January 18, 2017 – Born out of a vision for better, cleaner cities, ElectroMotive is on a mission to change the way Americans think about electric vehicles.
Launching in Los Angeles this week, ElectroMotive is the ultimate destination for Angelenos to browse, learn and fall in love with the next generation of cars. A joint effort of The 11th Hour Project and Insight Campaigns, the centerpiece of the initiative is the newly launched online platform www.electromotivela.com. This virtual EV showroom, designed exclusively for Los Angeles consumers, is loaded with user-friendly features, comprehensive model and infrastructure overviews, and guides to help L.A. drivers understand the exciting world of electrification and find the right EV for their lifestyle.
“We want people to see electric cars the way we see them,” said Stefanie Garden, Managing Partner at Insight Campaigns and co-creator of ElectroMotive. “The environmental benefits of low or zero-emissions driving are obvious, but these cars also have some of the most sophisticated safety, convenience and performance qualities we’ve ever seen from the auto industry. Pure electric and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles are making people’s lives better, saving them both time and money. Going electric is not just a clean choice; it’s a smart choice too.”
The platform’s features, functionality and informative content were designed after a rigorous research review and collaborative, inter-disciplinary approach to understanding and identifying opportunities to appeal to car consumers. Built with input and guidance from electrification experts and automotive consumer behavior researchers from the UCLA Luskin Center for Innovation, the USC Viterbi Information Sciences Institute, and energy leaders across the county, ElectroMotive is a truly local initiative, created for Angelenos, by Angelenos.
While ElectroMotive is focused primarily on Los Angeles, the program hopes the initiative will help grow the EV market outside of Los Angeles and serve as a model to be replicated elsewhere.
“The evolution of our transportation and energy systems is already underway,” said Jamie Dean, Program Director for Renewable Energy & Climate at The 11th Hour Project and the funder behind ElectroMotive. “We’re expanding clean energy use everyday across the country—but it’s not enough. We can and must do more to accelerate our transition away from outdated and dirty gas-powered cars.
